WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?

Have you ever sat back and thought about your missed opportunities and past mistakes? Do you feel stuck because you were given a mission and that option no longer seems viable?

Many of us are paralyzed by fear: not knowing the outcome of our purpose, thinking that we will appear foolish,  insecure about our abilities, fleeing to avoid responsibility…really just doubting God! We find ourselves unwilling to step out on faith, even when we know that God will not bring us to a path and not order our steps on it. We become reliant on our limited ability and lack the faith to follow through with what God purposed within us (see Romans 8:13-15).
Think about Jonah. God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and preach; he was given a mission and he did everything in his power to avoid what God had place on his heart to do. He literally tried to flee from God. His disobedience not only kept him on the run, but put others in danger in the process.  When it got rough enough, Jonah finally cried out to God; had he answered the call initially, he would not have had the trials he experienced.
Jonah is a prime example that we can only run from God’s will for so long. We will find ourselves like Jonah…tossed overboard, swallowed up whole and spit out…only to end up doing what God commanded us to do in the first place! Disobedience is of a sinful nature and we must treat it as such. We have to kill the flesh daily, so that the Holy Spirit can dwell within us and fulfill God's will for our lives.
God has given each of us a purpose, and we must walk obediently in it. It is time to step out on faith and fulfill the destiny that is in Christ Jesus with no fear!

Prayer: Father God, please keep us focused on the task that You have placed before us, and if we fall short, lead us back on the path of righteousness. Release us from the fear that keeps us from doing your will and fill us with the faith to see us through. Thank you for Your grace and mercy in all of our misdeeds and thank you for loving us enough to order our steps. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
